한류(韓流, Korean wave)란 한국문화가 1990년대 말부터 세계적으로 확산된 현상을 뜻하는 신조어이다. 이 책은 한류의 저력과 향후 과제를 밝히기 위해 문화, 언어, 철학, 종교 등 다방면의 학제 간 논의를 담았다. 총 3부로 구성하였는데, ‘제1부 한류의 현상과 해석’은 케이팝(K-Pop), 한국영화 등 한류를 이루는 대중문화 콘텐츠의 특징을 분석ㆍ해석한다. ‘제2부 동아시아의 한류현상’은 일본과 중국에서의 한류 현상을 집중적으로 조명한다. ‘제3부 한류의 미래와 과제’는 한류라는 문화 교류의 맥락과 구조를 인문학적으로 성찰하고, 한류가 ‘한국’이라는 특수성을 넘어선 보편주의, 전 인류의 문화 공유로 나아가야 한다고 역설한다.

It consists of three parts in total, and "The First Part of Hallyu Phenomenon and Interpretation" analyzes and interprets the characteristics of popular cultural contents that make up the Korean Wave, including K-Pop and Korean movies. The "Hallyu phenomenon in East Asia" focuses on the Korean Wave phenomenon in Japan and China. The "The Future and Tasks of the Third Part" reflects the context and structure of cultural exchange called the Korean Wave in a humanities way, and emphasizes that the Korean Wave should go beyond the specificity of "Korea" to universalism and cultural sharing of all mankind.
