필명은 베이루트. 평범한 회사원이자 칼럼니스트다. 중학교 시절부터 지금까지 꾸준히 커피를 마셔왔다. 대학 시절에는 학과 교수님들과 힘없는 대학원생들을 상대로 커피를 팔았고, 날이 좋을 땐 캠퍼스에서 노천카페를 열기도 했다. 그 경력을 인정받은 것인지, 지도교수님은 대학원을 생각하고 있다는 말에 “천만 원 줄 테니 카페나 열어”라고 입을 막아 커피 업계의 꿈나무가 될 뻔했다. 하지만 타고난 둔한 미각과 몸, 집에 두고 나온 센스로 일찍이 바리스타가 되는 것은 포기했다.하지만 커피를 마실수록 더 사랑하게 되어, 커피를 마시고 공부하고 커피 이야기를 나누는 것으로 일상을 영위한다. 이 아름다운 커피의 세계로 한 사람이라도 더 끌어들이는 것을 목표로 글을 쓴다. ‘베이루트의 카페견문록’을 모 영화게시판에 셀프 연재한 것을 시작으로 조선일보, 중앙일보, 한국경제, 매일경제, 월간커피, 월간객석, 언유주얼 등 각종 매체에 꾸준히 커피에 관한 글을 기고하고 있다. 폴인과 서울카페쇼, SCA 리테일 서밋 등에서 모더레이터를 담당했다. 2016년에는 스페셜티 커피 업계 종사자들의 이야기를 다룬 책 《열아홉 바리스타, 이야기를 로스팅하다》를, 2019년에는 커피와 취미를 주제로 다룬 책 《실용 커피 서적》을, 2022년에는 스페셜티 커피의 역사와 문화, 사람들 이야기를 담은 《스페셜티 커피, 샌프란시스코에서 성수까지》를 출간했다.(@_cafebeirut)
